Great show! Just so everyone knows be very careful parking! I parked in an apartment complex next door lot was vacant mostly. My car was towed in seconds by an aggressive tow company called APE towing . They wait in the parking lot you leave and they either tow your car or if they have jump key- that fits they just drive it away. I did find out from police you Don’T have to pay them the $200 they are asking for to get your car. If you car gets Towed to this place call the police trust me ! I guess police are getting at least 1 call a week regarding this company trying the change too much and the owner has some criminal trouble .

I would like to offer to buy the band dinner at a local mexican restaurant, or better yet I’ll offer to grill carne asada with margaritas at my house tomorrow before the show. I would think a good home cooked meal from a devoted (since 1976) fan would be enticing – if they could get the message. I can provide a phone number if you respond positively tonight or tomorrow. And, yes I would still like to see this show changed to all ages so I can bring my son. Can’t wait for tomorrow!

I saw UFO at the Clubhouse in Tempe 3? years ago..Good size crowd, they played awesome, all the hits, if you will, plus a few new ones from their “Monkey Puzzle” cd, at the time. On top of their game, Vinnie Moore plays guitar….Phil Mogg is priceless…likes to talk to the crowd…and they is LOUD!!! Great show….

Thanks a lot for bringing a legendary classic British Heavy metal band like Saxon to Club Red!

Saxon doesn’t tour the US very often (in fact it’s been over ten years since they were last in Arizona), so it’s a rare treat to be able to see this band live in concert!

However, I have a few friends in one of the opening bands that night, and they have told me something that I find quite pathetic & that angers the hell out of me!

The opening bands for Club Red shows also sell tickets to the show, and these guys have told me that they have been having a hard time selling tickets to the Saxon show, and have sold only a very few.

And the reason that everyone is telling them why they aren’t going to the Saxon show??

Because it’s on a Tuesday night, and since most people have to work the next day, they don’t want to go to a show and stay out late that night.

WTF??!!

That answer is sad & absolutely pathetic.

Look, I know people that are unemployed and are just barely making the rent and the bills and they don’t have the extra cash for the show. THAT I can understand.
THAT is a legitimate reason to miss this show.

But this weak & lame excuse that you can’t get out of your comfort zone once in a great while (like maybe a FEW times a YEAR) and go to a show on a weeknight is REALLY sad & pathetic!
Especially since we’re talking about a legendary British metal band like SAXON!

I’m sure most of you have some vacation hours that you could use the next day.

If not, bite the bullet and get a few less hours of sleep for ONE freakin’ night….we’re not talking about every week or even every month, for f*cks sakes!!
So you get 5 or 6 hours of sleep instead of 8 for one night….is that gonna kill ya??

Not only that, but word DOES get around to a lot of these touring bands that people here won’t come out to a weeknight show, and they WILL start blowing Phoenix off on their future tours! Is THAT the lame reputation that you want our city to have??

Look, I saw Accept at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana, CA back in May.
The show was on a Sunday night and everyone had to work or go to school the next day. But y’know what?
The place was absolutely JAM PACKED!!
Do you think those people cared that it was on Sunday night?
Hell No! They knew it was WELL worth it to see an awesome metal band like that!

Why not here, people?
Are you saying that people in California are better Rock fans than us??
F**K that attitude!!

I’m getting really tired of a lot of 30 & 40 somethings here, acting like 70 year olds!!

Hell, I’m older than most of you (47) and if a band comes that I want to see and it happens to be on a weeknight, I have absolutely NO problem with that…I’m there!

BTW, I also work full time and have two kids living at home.

Bottom line here is….if you’re TRULY a fan of Hard Rock / Heavy Metal….then having to go to a show on weeknight will NOT be an issue.

See you at the SAXON show next Tuesday night!

Thanks a lot for bringing in one of the best (& vastly underrated) British Hard Rock bands of the 70′s & 80′s!!

I just saw them this past Saturday night @ The Key Club in West Hollywood, and let me tell you they kicked major ass! Yeah, they are definitely older now, but you cannot tell that by listening to them….they sound virtually the same as they did in 1978!

Anyone who considers themselves a fan of classic Hard Rock & Heavy Metal should NOT miss this one!

I have been booking my band only since February and now I am getting to learn some of the ins and outs of the business. ALSO the Red Owl is cleaner, better laid out and has WAY better gear than most of the venues in this market of equal size.

Putting U.F.O. on this stage does not show a lack of respect, the main room had been booked since the spring.

Your lack of knowledge of the lineup in that room in no way makes you a spokesman for our venue and our quest for providing crowds of all kinds to a diverse selection of music.

We book legends and up-and -comers in ALL genres and sometimes the big room is already booked when something else comes along. But the same pro staff, gear and mentality with our approach to handling a show does not change simply because an act is on one stage or the other.

This booking was a last minute assist to help the band out. They had a cancellation and knew all about the size of the room going into this. It was discussed at length with all parties involved.

We picked it up to bring U.F.O. to our market so that people would not have to drive to Tucson for the show.

I am in Ghost 211 and recently booked Hammersdoen for The Rockers Reunion event at Club Red. I am not a booking agent, and did that event as a rental. I, too am glad to see them get a chance in a bigger, better venue. In general, I think the booking manager and his assistant at Club Red do a very good job of getting the better local bands, original and cover, to open for the National and International acts. Since each “support band” has a commitment to sell a certain number of tickets, more support bands means more ticket sales for the club. Because of this, one benefit for me is that a greater number of local bands like mine get a chance to take the bigger stage. Not all cover bands like this. Many of the very best cover bands would rather make $500 in guaranteed cash for an evening and play for 3-4 hours rather than to haul all their equipment and sell tickets for a short 45 minute set. What constitutes good vs. bad is definitely subjective. I saw a tribute band do a perfect rendition of songs by a band I despise. I felt like I was watching an excruciatingly bad band, but they had a huge following of devoted fans. It is weird that someone above questioned the idea of booking covers with the nationals, but then gave approval for a cover band being booked on the Saxon show. If you don’t like the way the music busniess works, buy your own club SAXON ROCKS!!

Hammersdoen plays some dive bars because we did not sell out. We play the metal / hard rock WE want to play , not glam or dance rock thus alot of bar owners would rather have BS music going on so the girls dance etc. We pride ourselfs on the music we do.I don’t care if it’s 20 people we play for or 500 we play just as hard .Come to the show and see for your self.

What a shame to have these legends playing the dinky small stage while a bunch of hacks and turntable modern disco spinners get the big stage. WTF? True, most of UFO’s better days are behind them, but they are still light years ahead of the other bands/dj’s on the main stage. Where is the respect. Also, be prepared, cuz if there IS a crowd for UFO, you wont be able to turn sideways in that cracker box size of a room. I know, I just played there for the Agent Orange show. Good luck trying to get a beer……….

PJC – don’t be a dick. Some of the cover bands you referred to that opened up for Adler’s we’re actually pretty good. Better than the headliner in some aspects. There is probably a reason your friends in Hammersdoen are stuck in dive bars. Besides aren’t they a cover band as well??? Get a clue!

Why do you book cover bands with nationals? I was at the Adler’s Appetite show back in Jan and had to sit through four excruciatingly bad cover bands.

Kurt Springer is my little brother…and I couldn’t be more proud of him! Nobody knows better than I do…how he loved to mess with the audio! One of my finest moments in my radio career (I have been a long time radio host in the Phoenix area for such great rock stations as KDKB and KSLX)…was when Kurt ran sound for our older brother, Bert Springer, (a successful musician in his ownright)…while filming a video during a concert for MTV..and I was the host/MC. It was a great ‘family’ affair!

Classic, Loud, American” Face-Melting ” Hard Rock – Thats what you get from Y&T !!! One of my all-time favorite hard rock groups [ especially with the original members- Phil Kenmore,seen on bass above in the featured video clip " Im coming Home ", Joey Alves on rhythym guitar, and Leonard Haze on drums; who for me, being a drummer myself, was a big influence on me while growing up and learning to play.] Im a Phoenix native, but i also grew up in Ca., where Y&T were very popular, and deservingly so. Guitar players are in for a treat if they show up to see Dave Meniketti, whom I, and i know many others feel, was one of the best underrated players of the “Days”- you know, the 80′s, into the early 90′s. I’ve only seen Y&T once when they were still Yesterday and Today and they opened up for Moxy! I still have their first album and hopefully I can get it signed. Dave Meniketti really rocked the house that night and even though it been over 25 years, looks like he can still rock! Songs I hope to hear: 24 hours and alcohol

I hope that what I have been hearing isnt the truth in that this gig has been cancelled, I sure hope not, these guys were and still are my favorits group from back in the day, there is no better guitarist in the world as Akira….this will make the 5th time that I will have seen then……please make this show happen….

I just got a plane ticket to come to Arizona from Vermont for the wine signing and the show…my friend that lives close to your club said she is having problems getting tickets for the wine signing and wine. She says it’s sold out. Is that true? If not, how do we go about getting tickets for the signing? Also, if I ordered wine online a while ago and bring it, can we have it signed? Any infor you can offer will be helpful.
